Looking for that special wine for the holiday season or for a gift, this wine tasting is for you. Join us 4-6pm on Friday, December 19.
We will sample a dry Prosecco style sparkler, a Mercato Italian red and white and a Arnot-Roberts Gamay Noir.
This is a free event and very casual. Come anything between 4pm and 6pm and stay for as long as you like. Of course, we will be providing a well-appointed charcuterie board to nibble on.
Make a night of it in Sunapee Harbor by using the tasting as a starting point to finish with dinner or beers at the Wildwood Smokehouse, Blue Canoe or Hoptimystic.
Bisson Glera Frizzante
Bisson’s dry sparkler is finely balanced, with green apple and floral aromas dominating the complex, heady mix. Chiseled mineral acidity demands a thoughtful pairing with light salads, youthful cheeses and salty, smoked fish. If you enjoy Prosecco, this is essentially what this bottle is as it’s made from the Prosecco grape, Glera. However, this is a bone dry rendition of the sparkling wine and very unique for that matter. Sealed with a crown cap and in 2016 this practice no longer allowed for the wine to be labeled as Prosecco all the while listing the grape Glera.
Mercato Blanc Vino Bianco
Garganega 50%, Chardonnay 35%, Incrocio Manzoni 15% (for aromatics)
Pesce, pronounce “Pesh-ay,” means fish in Italian and this refers to the fact that this wine goes perfectly with all manner of seafood. A classic Veronese table wine, this is a common blend of the grapes grown around the city of Verona. A lush and expressive wine with notes of apple, pear, and lemon. A dry wine with med/full body and a balanced finish that is both refreshing and firm.
Mercato Carne Vino Rosso
Montepulciano 50%, Corvina 40%, Merlot 10%
The Carne has soft, dark red fruits of plum, cherry, and blackberry, with undertones of tobacco and warm spice. Easy on the palate, it is medium bodied with soft tannins and a classic, dry finish. This is Fabio’s take on a classic red table wine. The Corvina highlights the dark red and wild fruits, adding a bit of spice and pepper. Montepulciano fills out the body of the wine and the Merlot is present in the finish. A wine that begins strong and finishes with elegance and ease.
